Marie, Ont., to dimensions of 605’ (OA) x 62’5” x 33710”. Keel for this 11,000-gross-ton motorship was laid May 15, 1963, with launching and christening held Nov. 27. She passed upbound at the Soo April 2, 1964, on her maiden voyage after completing lake trials in Georgian Bay March 26 and 27. Propulsion is provided by four Fair- banks-Morse diesels developing a total of 5,300 b.h.p., driving a four-bladed 146” KaMeWa cont- rollable-pitch propeller. Engine and propeller controls are located in the vessel’s wheelhouse. Named for Algoma’s board chairman, she represents the second unit in the Algoma fleet built expressly for A.C.R., the first being the 574’ steamer E. B.
