Che Detroit Marine Historian Journal of MARINE HISTORICAL SOCIETY of Detroit Volume 18, No September, 1964 SUDDEN FIRE broke out in the saltwater freighter ERATO of the Hycar-Line as she lay at the dock at Detroit Harbor Terminals on Oct. 8. It swept through the crewst quarters so rapidly that two men were killed. Don Cutter, of the Detroit Daily Press photographic staff, caught this view as the blaze was at its height. Two days later the ERATO went to Ameri- can Shipbuilding's Toledo yard for repairs.
