SHEADLE i, beF.A.BAILEY) from Cleve- land Cliffs Steamship Co. The new owners, reportedly Fort William in- terests, will engage principally in the lake grain trade. Wyandotte Chemicals have sold their self-unloader ALPENA to Erie Sand Steamship Co., Erie, Pa. She will be altered for the sand and gravel trade. Kinsman Marine Transit continue fleet expansion with their December purchase of American Steamship's NIAGARA MOHAWK (aeSTEPHEN M. CLEMENT beUNITED STATES GYPSUM i, c.JOHN J. BOLAND ii). She will be rechristened PEAVEY PIONEER, after the Peavey Grain Coe, Minneapolis. American's sale of this straight decker brings that fleet to 100 per cent self-un- loader+type carriers. Seaway Cartage Company's 82-year-old barge ALGONAC (a.SYRACUSE, b.eLAKE- WOOD, c.K.V.SCHWARTZ) has been sold to Toth Transportation, Toledoe Bauxite Corpe, New York, has bought the two long-idle Bethlehem steamers LEONARD C. HANNA and POWELL STACK= HOUSE. It is believed the new owners will. use the vessels for trade-in credit on acquisition of U. S. Mari- time: Administration reserve fleet units. The earlier-announced sales of steamers WYANDOTTE i, CHARLES HUBBARD, GEORGE H. INGALLS (a.WILL- IAM Le BROWN) and T. Je MCCARTHY (ae MAR¥ C. ELPHICKE, beMORRIS Se. TRE- MAINE) to East Coast interests were repartedly made for similar trade-in purposes. It seems doubtful that any of these 014 lakers will be moved to the coast by their new ownerse SCRAPS Werine Salvage, Ltd., have purchased Paterson's steamers SORELDOC (a.PHE- NICIA, beCHEYENNE), TROISDOC (aeAL= GONQUINS) and VANDOC (aeHENDRICK S HOLDEN, beARGUS ii) for dismantling. The former Cleveland-Cliffs steamer ANGELINE was moved from Marine Sal- vage's Port Colborne dock to Steel Company of Canada, Hamilton, Nove 25 by the tugs G. W. ROGERS and ARGUE MARTIN. The former Misener Ganaller WHEATON (aeWESTCLIFFE HALL) which had been partly dismantled at Cardinal, was towed to Stelco, Hamilton, late this fall. Stelco appears now to have been the final dismantler of the last two whaleback barges on the lakes, the ALEXANDER HOLLEY and 137. (See Auge "65 Log). CORRECTIONS: Kellstone, Inc's m/s A. CLEET) was lengthened by 76'6" to 34299" (OA) in 1965 at an undisclosed shipyard. The Nove '65 Log erroneously reported Bayswater's BAYFAIR (@-sCOALHAVEN) to have been lengthened.
