AMHERSTBURG'S first season found her participating in a number of interesting jobs including towing WYANDOTTE i, T. J. MCCARTHY and GEORGE H. INGALLS from Detroit to Port Colborne for scrapping, towing WILLIAM H. WOLF from Toledo to Hamilton for scrapping, towing BAYTON from Port Colborne to Chicago and the highly-successful salvage of the sunken EMSSTEIN and her subsequent delivery to Sorel, Que. This winter finds AMHERSTBURG stationed at the U.S. Coast Guard Base at Youngstown, N. Ye, under contract to the Hydro-Electric Power Commission of Ontario to break ice in the lower Niagara River.
