A Helping Hand Ll ATOMIC and AMHERSTBURG Photo by Robert W. Walton FOUR SCIENTISTS were busily sampling Lake Erie's water from the tug ATOMIC, chartered from McQueen Marine, Ltd., when the tug went hard aground. The weather was getting heavy and finally the four men, who were working for the Ontario Water Resources Commission, were lifted off by helicopter. Three days later McQueen's powerful AMHERSTBURG managed to pull ATOMIC free and brought her in to Port Maitland for temporary repairs. She later went to Port Weller for drydocking. Our photo shows the two tugs in the Welland Canal.
