Walton Built by Collingwood Shipyards to the order of Texaco Canada Limited. Keel laid July 23, 1968, launching carried out December, 1968, and christening took place April 10, 1969. The vessel has been designed for service on the Great Lakes, St. Lawrence River and the North At- lantic Coast and has been specially strengthened for winter navigat- ion. Principal particulars are as follows: Length (OA) 400'6", beam 54' and depth 26'6", gross tonnage 5038, net tonnage 3164. Main pro- pulsion machinery consists of two 2,000-hp Fairbanks-Morse diesel engines, coupled to a single shaft turning a Ka-Me-Wa variable-pitch propeller. The engine speed and propeller pitch are remotely control- led from either engine room or bridge. Extra maneuverability is pro- vided by means of a 350-hp bowthruster. Paul Sherlock
