The Detroit Marine Historian Journal of Marine Historical Society of Detroit Volume 24, No. 4 December, 1970 2 he A Ee n other years we could dream away the icebound months with pho- axe tographs of gleaming cruise boats like SOUTH AMERICAN and look forward to summer trips throughout the Great Lakes. But those days and those boats are all gone now. Only the Bob-Lo boats, the Lake Michigan ferries and the ferries between Tobermory and South Baymouth remain to carry passengers on the Lakes. There are persistent rumors of new-pas— senger boats to come, reports that people are weary of auto travel, tired of looking at cloud tops from planes and longing for leisurely eruises on our beautiful Lakes.
