JHIPS THAT NEVER DIE -No.172 RHODA EMILY (US.110641) Wooden steamer built in 1884 at Trenton by John Craig as HULL 27 for the Lake Michigan Eastern Transit Company, (W.R. Owen) of Chicago, to dimensions of 166' x 32' x 12'6"; 370 g.t. Sold in 1896 to C.R. Jones, of Cleveland, who sold her in 1900 to the Saginaw Bay Transit Company, of Cleveland. She was sold in 1910 to Winnefred Schlosser, of Milwaukee, and in 1913 was renamed CREAM CITY. In 1917 she was sold to the James R. Andrews Transit Company, of Es- canaba, and on July 1, 1918, while making False Detour Passage, towing the barge, GRACE HOLLAND, she was stranded on Wheeler's Reef.
