Captain Frank E. Hamilton died Jan. 22, 1972, at his home on Kelleys Island at the age of 79. One of the last skippers of the PUT- IN-BAY, Capt. Hamilton was our Society's "Historian of the Year" for 1970, in re- cognition of his encyclo- pedic knowledge of Great Lakes marine history. Capt. Hamilton's mother was a Kelley and he was born on the island. We are fortu- nate that he left behind a mass of written material so that his extraordinarily profuse knowledge will re- main available for the use of future students of Great Lakes history. The Bob-Lo Company will again run two trips on the COLUMBIA to’ Port Huron this year. The dates are July 4 and Sept. 4. The round-trip fare will again be $9 with options of boat both ways or boat one way and bus either going or return- ing. ‘Those who have made the trip needn't be reminded of the scenic beauty of the route and the excitement of ex- changing salutes with the residents along the shores. Mark those two dates on your calendar. Tickets will be available at the Bob-Lo Dock, foot of Woodward.
