Detroit Tribune-Advertiser (July 30, 1863): William Simms has sold the propeller STOCKMAN to Joseph J. Bennett, taking as part pay the schooner EUGENE. Editor's Note: Built at Cleveland in 1852 by Moses S. Taylor, master carpenter for Luther Moses, for John B. Stockman, of Point Aux Bargues, Mich. One account says burned at Onekama, Mich., in 1865, but a Detroit Free Press account (Sept. 1, 1865), says burned at Findley's Ferry, Bear Creek, Mich., on August 29, 1865. She first saw service as fish tug in 1852-5).
