[asthe LoG eo The shipping season is well un- derway once again. The SILVER BAY is now running as the JUDITH M. The JOHN ROEN V stack emblem has three-bladed propeller with letters E.B.T. on The new Paterson vessel is defi- nately the ONTADOC and made her maiden trip through the Soo on April 24. Fellow member Bill Haller is 3d engineee on her. The JOHN G. MUNSON will remain in the colors of the Bradley Division of US Steel and her hull will not be painted red as expected last fall. The old S. M. DOUGLASS, ex-WHITE STAR, an old sidewheel passenger vessel, later a sand dredge on the St.Lawrence, is now a break- wall at Kingston. About 400 feet of the new Inter- lake 1,000-footer have been com- pleted at Lorain. The JAMES FERRIS has left Port Colborne bound for Quebec. The and KINSMAN VOYAGER will follow her, but the HENNE- PIN will be scrapped at Ramey's Bend. The LAVIOLETTE will return to the lakes this summer. She is owned by Albert Russell Avery of Mooretown, Ontario (near Court- across from St. Clair, supposed to run excursions out of Sarnia soon. The ex Roen barge HILDA is on her way to New Orleans. She was towed to Joliet, Ill., by the tug MARGARET M. HANNAH. The GOBLE, TIETJEN, MCCURDY and HEN- RY STEINBRENNER are still laid up at Lorain. No more news of the return of the SOUTH AMERICAN has come to my desk, but I suppose every- thing is ready for her tow back to the lakes. When this will oc- cur is still not sure but we would like to receive any news about her so we can pass it on to many who would like to take pictures of her upon her return.
