The ships were first operated for their own- ers by the Minch interests and later by W.C.Richardson & Co. The ships had black or very dark gray hulls, natural wood colored cabins and red stacks with black top. The four freighters were: WILLIAM CHISHOIM, 1884 Cleveland by Globe Iron Works. 246 x 37 x 22. Went out to salt water around 1908, and was wrecked on Cape Cod, Mass., July 16, 1916. J.H.DEVEREAUX, 1885 Cleveland by Globe Iron Works. 243 x 37 x 19. Went salt water around 1908, sailing on both the Pacific and Atlantic and returning to the Lakes in 1921. Renamed JCHN MULLEN in 1925. Scrapped at Indiana Harbor, Ind by Inland Steel Co. in 1945. SAMUEL MITCHELL, 1892 Cleveland by Globe Iron Works. The second steel unit of the fleet. 292 x 40 x 20. Converted to cement carrier by MeLouth in 1922 for Huron Cement Co. On the coast during World War II. Rebuilt at Manitowoc in 1848. Reduced to a barge in 1973 and renamed MEL WILLIAM SELVICK. Still afloat. J.H-WADE, 1890 Cleveland by Cleveland Shipbuilding Company. 265 x 38 x 20. Steel hull. Sold Canadian (Algoma) in 1916. Was on salt water during World War I, ad after the war remained in service in Canada's Maritime Frovinces. Out of Canadian List of Ships for 1926. Probably abandoned due to age.
