The main line was from South Chicago to Pesh- tigo Harbor on Green Bay, a route maintained during the full 15 years of the company's Existence. A cross-lake route between Benton Harbor and Manitowoc was tried during 1897, but did not prove successful and was not continued. In all 14 units were owned, chartered or contracted for by the Lake Michigan Car Ferry Transportation C,mpany. NO.1, wooden car ferry barge, built by James Davidson at W.Bay Cyty in 1895. 310 x 44 x 12, 1544 g.t., capacity 28 freight cars. Sold in 1910 and foundered on Lake Huron off Thunder Bay, 11-8-1918. WO.2, Wooden car ferry barge built by Dawidson in 1895. Sister to NO.1 Capsized in Chicago Harbor, 9-29-1906 and eventually abandoned. NO.3, Wooden car ferry barge built at Toledo by Craig in 1896. 306 x 47 x 12, 1548 g.t. Foundered off Long Point, L.Erie, 9-12-1900. NO.4, wooden car ferry barge, built by Craig in 1896, a sister of NO.3. Lost on Lake Erie with NO.3 in 1900.
