The Ships THOMAS WILSON Thomas Wilson was born on October 3, 1838 at Fifeshire, Scotland and came from a sea-faring family. He moved to America in his teens and spent many years on both salt and fresh water. After he had settled in Cleveland he began his Wilson Transit Company with his first ship, the D. M. WILSON, built in 1872. Many vessels came r | into the fleet which was to last into the 1960's. Among the ships named after this N prominent man were a tug, a whaleback and two bulk carriers. Thomas Wilson died on March 22, 1900 but his name has lived on even to today by the ships that have car- ried his name. aa THOMAS WILSON Fr.
