BURRO (US. 219565) was yet another Leathem & Smith hull with Chicago Marine Iron Works engines. Barrett Towing Company of New York bought this tug in 1925 and renamed it GEO. N. BARRETT. In the 1950's Moran of New York operated the Barrett tugs. GEO. N. BARRETT was dismantled at New York in 1964. CAMEL (US. 219635) also came from the Sturgeon Bay yards of Leathem & Smith and had an engine from the Valley Iron Works of Appleton, Wisconsin. CAMEL never had a @ name change, although there was a change of ownership in 1921 to Lamberts Point Tow Boat Company of Norfolk and then to Wood Towing Co. also of Norfolk in 1930. CAMEL was listed as "Abandoned" in 1949, but was not actually junked until 1954. CAMEL Author's Collection a DILIGENT (US. 218940) likewise was built by Leathem & Smith at Sturgeon Bay. The @ engine builder is not known. U.S. NAVY operated the tug as U.S.S. DILIGENT from 1926 to 1936, after which time she was owned by R. S. Cors of New York, Mathiasen Brothers, also of New York, and finally Meseck Towing & Transportation Co. who renamed her CATHERINE MESECK in 1945. Dismantled in 1954. CATHERINE MESECK C. H.
