© © WHITEFISH BAY The Log (Continued) tourist-attraction CLIPPER, best remembered as MILWAUKEE CLIPPER, has been freed of her sewage problems with the city and will reopen for the new season on May 27th, continuing until the end of September. Efforts are underway to have the boat placed in the National Register of Historic Sites. The accompanying photo of CLIPPER was taken last November. ** A second reunion of members and friends of the Georgian Bay Line is scheduled to be held at Perrin's Marina at Holland, Michigan, on May 7th. ** The Norwegian tanker LAKE ANNE arrived at Detroit Marine Terminals on April 6th to open overseas vessel operations. She loaded tallow for Rotterdam delivery. ** In a colorful and impressive display of coordination, five units of the Gaelic Tugboat Company assisted in the annual Spring ritual of moving Hanna's 1,000-foot GEORGE A. STINSON from her winter moorings at River Rouge on April lst. Involved in the maneuver were the tugs DONEGAL, KINSALE, SHANNON and newly- refurbished GALWAY BAY and NEWCASTLE. On April 19th, the STINSON lost her unloading boom at the Zug Island dock when a retainer Pin failed. The damage will require a complete boom replacement, prompting Hanna to accelerate the fitting out of the steamer GEORGE M. HUMPHREY at their Ecorse dock. ** Westdale Shipping's self-unloader At the Shipyard in Collingwood Jack Shaw photo ERINDALE was towed from Toronto to Port Weller by the tug G. W. ROGERS on March 30th for her bow plate repairs. She had cleared there by April 17th. She was followed on the drydock by Upper Lakes' bulkers QUEBECOIS and CANADIAN NAVIGATOR. That fleet's NORTHERN VENTURE has been stripped of all cabins at Hamilton, preparatory to her coversion. ** The Port Weller shipyard tug JAMES E. MCGRATH and Hamilton-based tug R. & L. NO. 1 departed the canal on April 20th for Sorel where they were scheduled to pick up the motorship CABOT for tow to Hamilton, where she will be held pending her stern-joining with the bow section of NORTHERN VENTURE at Port Weller Dry Docks' facility. ** P&H's ELMGLEN has been moved from Port Colborne to Toronto, her future now in doubt, while WILLOWGLEN has resumed service, her first for the new owners.** Misener's new 730-foot motorship SELKIRK SETTLER was christened at Govan, Scotland on April 15th, her arrival on the Lakes expected shortly. For that reason, the steamers GEORGE M. CARL and JOHNE. F. MISENER will not be fitted out for the Misener operation at this time. ** U.S. Steel's Bradley fleet steamers ROGERS CITY and T.W. ROBINSON are idle at Rogers City this Spring, their possible commissioning dependent on improved business conditions. ** Further details concerning Collingwood Shipyards' HULL. 227 have become available.
