Apparently, Desgagnes plans to pool its operations with other Quebec-based shipping interests under the name Sonamar Navigation of Quebec City. Ownership of Sonamar will comprise Desgagnes, the Quebec government, Logistec Corp. of Montreal and Boreal Navigation of Ste. Foy, Quebec. As is currently outlined, of the former Q&O fleet, all but one will operate in the Lakes and St. Lawrence areas in 1984, the other vessel to be assigned to the Arctic this summer. Of the remaining seven vessels, FRANQUELIN and NEW YORK NEWS will serve the upper lakes trades (i.e., Wallaceburg, etc.) in company with a bulker of the 600-foot capacity.
