Dr. Richard J. Wright 1935- 1985 Our Society feels the loss of an esteemed and very active member, Dr. Richard J. Wright, who passed away September 17th. Dr. Wright was a long time member and at one time served on the Society's Board of Advisers. He was also the recipient of our "Marine Historian of The Year" award. His most recent position was professor of Modern American History and Director of the Institute for Great Lakes Research at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Rick loved the Great Lakes and the ships. These were, for him, not only a most enjoyable hobby, but, more than that as he made them, a profoundly academic profession. Throught it all, he kept a trenchant sense of humor and a gracious personality. All of us shall remember this likeable and highly regarded fellow member.
