MacDONALD departed Port Weller after extensive refurbishing. *** On August 11, the 800 ton-per-hour hopper at the Robin Hood elevator in Port Colborne received its first self-unloader, CSL's HM. GRIFFITH. She is believed to be the first 730-foot ship to unload there. She backed into the dock, and upon her departure on Thursday August 14, backed through Lock 8 and into Lake Erie. *** Columbia's COURTNEY BURTON _ was downbound past Detroit on August 13 bound for Toledo, on her first trip after her drydocking and inspection at Fraser. *** The tug CINDY B, leased from Calumet Towing, and four barges have taken over the shuttle duties of the E.J. BLOCK between Plant 2 and 3 at Inland Steel's Indiana Harbor Works. The two four man crews can transport more tons per day at less than half the cost per ton of the E.J. BLOCK with its 26 crew members. As a result, E.J. BLOCK was sold to Marine Salvage for scrap in April 1987 and was downbound past Detroit August 16 under tow
