Edward J. Dowling, S.J. Since printing the Crosby Fleet list, we have been provided with a photo of the tug CROSBY which was described in Volume 40, No. 7 of the Historian. Pictured below is the tug CROSBY. CROSBY Fr. Dowling Collection CROSBY (U.S. 126617) Wooden harbor tug, built at Benton Harbor, Michigan by E.W. Heath in 1889 for Captain Crosby. Sold out of the fleet in 1891 when replaced by a larger tug. Lasted until abandoned due to age in 1930. Last owner was J. Shea, Duluth. ANNOUNCEMENTS: OO & The Nickel Plate Road Historical & Technical Society has just published a 40 page history of the Port of Huron, Ohio. Written by Eric Hirsimaki, it contains dozens of photos of the docks, boats and trains. The book gives a nice explanation of how and why this small village became a major ore and coal port.
