CROSBY FLEET UPDATE (continued) Since publication of this list we have learned that CARRIE A. RYERSON should have appeared in Volume 40, No. 7 of the HISTORIAN. Below is a photo and description of this vessel. CARRIE A. RYERSON Fr. Dowling Collection CARRIE A. RYERSON (U.S. 126156) Small passenger and freight ship, built at Grand Haven in 1883 by Duncan Robertson for H. Jacobs of Grand Haven. 56 x 17 x 8; 58 gross tons. Owned by Mr. Crosby in the late 1890's. Later owned by Chicago parties and used in local harbor excursions. Destoyed by fire while in layup at Willow Springs, Illinois on the Desplaines River, about 20 miles southwest of Chicago, April 23, 1921.
