MARINE INTELLIGENCE.

The tug Mixer is being rebuilt at Davis' yard.

The Lachine canal was opened today for navigation.

The steambarge Saxon is being overhauled at Powers' yard.

The Minnie arrived at Breck & Booth's from the Bay of Quinte yesterday.

The Lorraine was hauled out at Davis' shipyard today for general repairs.

The schr. Hanlan ran aground near Belleville yesterday. She was light.

On Friday the tug Wright will take the dredge Withdale to Sorel.

The prop. Armenia touched at Swift's today from Toronto en route for Ogdensburg.

The tug Sir John will leave in a few days with the dredge Ontario for Shannonville.

The schr. Grantham cleared for Toledo this morning, and the schr. Acadia for Deseronto, both light.

The schr. W.T. Greenwood has reached Breck & Booth's wharf with 300 tons of coal from Charlotte, N.Y.

The prop. Armenia has secured her first cargo of grain in Toronto. She gets two cents to Ogdensburg.

The steambarge Belle Wilson, with barley from Trenton, has been trying to reach Oswego. She has had to lie up at South Bay awaiting the departure of ice.

The steambarge Niagara, wheat laden from Toronto, is en route to this port. The barges Cavalier and Cameron, timber laden, are also coming down from Toronto.

The tug McArthur has been launched at Powers' shipyard after receiving a general overhauling. The steam barge Saxon is now on the way for general repairs and a new wheel. She will be docked this week.

The Richelieu & Ontario Navigation Company's suit against the Thames & Mersey Insurance Company was heard at Detroit on April 28th, a suit to recover the insurance on the steamer Spartan. Judgement has been given against the Richelieu company, who will carry the case to the Supreme Court. The Spartan was valued, in 1881, at $90,000. She was leased to a western railway company, and during the autumn of 1883 was stranded on a rock. She was insured for $40,000, to recover which the present suit was instituted. The Spartan was taken to Detroit and repaired, and owing to the dispute over the insurance was sold by the Dry Dock Co. through the sheriff, the Richelieu Company paying $26,000 to regain possession of her.
