"Sailing Directions.
To make Port Hope (Stafford) from Gratiot Light House
Steer N. by W. for 59 Miles till abreast of Sandy Beach Bay when follow along the Coast not approaching nearer than 1 Mile from Shore for 7 3/4 Miles till Dock bears W. by S 1/4 S. whence steer in a Range for the Dock.
coming from Au Sauble and Alpena
When 3 Miles West of Point Aux Barques L. H., steer S. by E. 3/4 E. for 5 1/2 Miles till Dock bears @. by S. 1/4 S., whence make for the Dock.
Excellent Ancorage can be found near the Dock."
