Weedsport May 12

Canal Steam-Boat. - A canal boat propelled by steam power passed this village on Sunday evening last. The boat was built at Rochester, and towed to Utica where she received on board her steam apparatus. Her propelling wheels are at the stern, and judging from the majestic style in which the boat moves, with about the same speed as other boats on the canal, we should think the long sought for desideratum of navigating our canal by steam, had at last successfully been found. The boat bears the name of "Novelty," and literally verified her name to those who saw her gliding along.
