Flora (Steamboat), U120210, 1905

A company that will run a boat line between Buffalo and Erie has lately been formed. The new concern will be known as the Erie Transportation Co. It is organized under the laws of Pennsylvania and the work of organization will be finished at Erie, Pa., on Saturday.
      One boat has been bought for the new line. It was formerly known as the URANIA and is now known as the KEYSTONE of Erie. The boat is 185 ft. overall and has a beam of 50 ft. with a speed of 13 miles an hour. The new boat will have a capacity of 800, with staterooms for 100. There will be a night service between Buffalo and Erie, the days being given over to excursions.
      Local men who are interested in the new comapny are John F. Patterson, David J. Natilgan, Daniel Mahoney & Sons, J.E. Conlen Jr., and Willis Brown. C.R. Glick of Erie, who is one of the promoters of the company, was in Buffalo yesterday making arrangements at this end of the line.

The new side wheel steamer for the Englemann Co. was launched at Milwaukee Saturday. She has been christened the FLORA and is of the following dimensions: Length of keel, 175 ft.; breadth of antural beam, 27 ft.; depth of hold, 11 ft. The engine of the old stm. CITY OF TOLEDO has been thoroughly overhauled and placed in the new boat. Part of the cabin of this boat will be also transferred to the FLORA.

The old steamer FLORA, belonging to the Lake Erie, Detroit River railroad, has been completely remodeled and her name changed to the URANIA. She will go on the route between Cleveland, Port Stanley and Rondeau.
