Happy Jack (Yacht), 18 Apr 1858
- Full Text
An impression seeming to be generally prevalent that a great many vessels, in the harbor during the winter, were sold at Marshall's sale, we have procured an authentic list, as follows:
Schr. F.L.WELLS sold late last fall for $716 - to E.O. Gould of Buffalo.
Stm. MINNESOTA, in February for $4,700 - to Dennis Bowen and Chauncey Tucker of Buffalo.
Schr. H.N. FARNHAM, February for $1,800 - to George Tew of Silver Creek.
Bark BADGER STATE, February, $3,500 - to former owners.
Schr. CURTIS MANN, March, for $1,459 - to Exchange Bank, Lockport.
Stm. QUEEN CITY, this month, for $2,500 - to C.M. Reed, of Erie.
Besides these, a new schooner, not finished at the yards, for $2,200. Also a neat little craft at Lewiston, the HAPPY JACK for $310, for parties not named.
There are probably as many more under the Marshal's ban. Considering the condition in which our lake marine found themselves at the close of navigation last fall, this is coming off pretty light. So, commerce after all, will be but little hindered from this cause. - Buff. Courier.
