The ATMOSPHERE - The vessel bearing this peculiar name arrived at this port yesterday morning on her maiden voyage from Cleveland to Chicago. She was built at Milan, Ohio, one of the most prominent shipbuilding points on our lake borders. She is a fine looking craft of strong build and registered 351 tons custom house measurement. She is fore anbd aft rigged, has a straight stem and is otherwise constructed to pass through the canal. She is owned by Valentine Freeze (sic Fries) Her builder's name is William Shupe, and she is commanded by Capt. James Woods, who is spoken of as a good sailor. - Detroit Free Press.
