Forty-eight Years Ago. - The following vessels passed Detroit August 10, 1820, which we find recorded in the log book kept aboard the schooner ELIZABETH, Captain John Fellows, then on a voyage to Drummond Island and Sault Ste. Marie: Passed up - schooners ELIZABETH, RACHAEL, WIDOW'S SON, RED SIDES, FRIENDSHIP, and ELLENOR. The schooner MONROE of Detroit, FRIENDSHIP, VICTORY we also find noted as having passed down. The ELIZABETH called at Moy, a village one mile above Windsor, and took on some freight. During the voyage the following vessels were noted at different points on the passage: The VICTORY, Captain Robert Nelson; HOPE, Captain Armstrong; BEAVER, Captain White, from Green Bay; GOV. GORE, Captain Robert McLean; MARY, of Colchester, Captain Thomas Finch; ELLENOR, Captain Hugh McCall, also the FRIENDSHIP, TIGER, ZEPHYR, of Ashtabula, LADY PROVOST, CHAMPION, SLOOP; and the full-rigged brig Snow; DUKE OF WELLINGTON, of Moy, Captain McIntosh. The ELIZABETH was six weeks, less a few days, in making the voyage from opposite Buffalo to the Sault and return. Captain Fellows, who commanded her, built and was master of the first vessel on Lake Ontario. If we may except Captain James Hackett, who commanded the CHAMPION at the above time and who is yet hale and hearty, residing on Bois Blanc Island, opposite Malden, all others have doubtless long ere this passed to their long rest.
