      Kingston, Ont., Dec. 10 - The recent improvements to the mail steamer SPARTAN's engines are calculated to give her a speed of fourteen miles all hour.

      Kingston, Ont., Dec. 17.- In her trial trip the sidewheel steamer SPARTAN made 15 miles per hour on eighteen and three-fourth revolutions to the minute.
