Kasota (Propeller), 10 Dec 1891

Description
Full Text

The KASOTA is in the large new Dry Dock, ready to begin work as soon as the cofferdam is completed, which it will be this week. She presents a very dilapidated appearance, and is practically broken in two. This will be an all winter job as it will require a great deal of labor to put the boat in commission again. There is some serious talk of lengthening her which could be very easily done and at very little additional expense.

      Activity in Detroit Shipyards.
Detroit, Mich., Jan. 7 - With five boats under way at the different yards of the Detroit Dry Dock Company, and the steamer KASOTA coming out with a rebuild which will make her almost equal to a new boat, there is certainly a great deal of activity in the ship building line here. The KASOTA has been sold to Detroit parties, price understood to be in the neighborhood of $90,000. The work of repairing her has begun and every effort will be made to have her ready for the opening of navigation.
