BATTLEFORD - Steel bulk freighter (C. 148134) built in 1925 at Wallsend-On-Tyne, United Kingdom by Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd. (Hull # 1275) for Great Lakes Transit Company Ltd. as a.) GLENROSS: 248.1 x 43.8 x 22.9; 1 2,357 gross tons. Powered by a 1,060 ihp triple expansion steam engine. Lengthened 96 feet at Collingwood, Ontario in 1926. Shortened by 95 feet at Collingwood and converted to a package freighter at Lauzon, Quebec in 1939. Renamed b.) BATTLEFORD in I W. Sold to Bahamian ownership in 1966, renamed c.) REAL GOLD. Scrapped in 1975.
