On Saturday afternoon (4/9) about 3:30, a new schooner built for Messrs. Pratt & Co. of this city, was successfully launched at the yard of Hitchcock & Gibson. The vessel is to be used in the course freight traffic, and is said to be strongly built. Her dimensions are: Lenght of keel 120 ft.; over all 128 ft.; depth of hold, 10 ft.; width of beam, 26 ft. She is 285 tons, old measurement, and will have capacity for 570 tons. Her cost when completed , will be about $16,000. She is to be wire rigged, and will be ready for business by the opening of navigation.
