- Full Text
LAUNCH.---The new steam lighter THE BADGER, the property of our enterprising fellow citizen, Byron Kilbourn, Esq., was launched on the 4th inst. She is 64 feet in length, 12 feet beam exclusive of guards, and when her engine is put in will draw 2 feet water. The engine is 20 horsepower, high pressure. The boat has an excellent cabin, capable of containing about 100 persons, and will remove the unpleasantness and delay which has hithertofore been experienced in landing from the large steamboats which do not come over the bar. She will be further used in towing in and out schooners during adverse winds; and in towing scows with wood for steamboats, and various other ways for the benefit and convenience of the citizens of the town. ------ Milwaukee, July 8
