Lottie Bernard (Steamboat), U15635, 5 Nov 1874
- Full Text
The LOTTIE BERNARD, which was lost with several lives on Lake Superior a day or 2 since, was a side wheel steam barge and came originally from Sandusky and was altogether unfit for the traffic she was employed in. Her route was a rugged and dangerous one, and no other means being available for the few that traveled that way without the right of government necessary in such cases, she was permitted to receive passage permission on every opportunity.
