THE LAUNCH:-On Saturday afternoon, a large number of citizens assembled to witness the launch of the CALIFORNIA,-- but for some cause, after she had moved some 8 feet on the way's she held up, and would not go -- the assemblage were disappointed, of course. We understand that she started off yesterday morning very quietly, and passed into the water in fine style, making a very beautiful launch of it.

The launch of the propeller CALIFORNIA from the ship yard of Messrs. Bidwell & Banta did not come off on Saturday afternoon, on account of some defect in the ways. We learn however, that it took place yesterday between 9 and 10 o'clock.
