NEW ERA IN CANADINA NAVIGATION
Cargoes are being now regularly shipped from the upper lakes in the larger lake vessels direct to Quebec, and from Quebec to the lakes. The schooner EMPIRE, Wilson Master, which had gone clear through with a general cargo of flour, returned yesterday with a general cargo, namely 600 bbls. salt and other pieces of merchandise for Toronto and Hamilton. The propeller WESTERN MILLER came up about the same time with 100 bbls Liverpool Salt and 30 tons of merchandise and the schooner WELLAND with 2 ton (?) English coals. - Toronto Examiner
