NEW VESSEL. - The Chicago Democratic Tress says -- Just at dusk last evening we espied a new vessel lying at one of the docks, and "boarding" her ascertained the following in regard to her. She was built at Buffalo by G.W. Wicks, and was purchased while on the stocks by our fellow townsman, Jas. Peck, Esq., and will hereafter be employed in the grain trade. Her dimensions are: Length 120 feet 4 inches, breadth 25 feet 10 inches, depth 10 feet 9 inches, measurement 325 tons. She is very appropriately named the "GEM," for she is a beautiful specimen of Marine architecture. She is commanded by Capt. Snow, formerly upon the brig BELLE. Success to the new craft and to all who are interested in her.
