Grand Haven. - The new steambarge ALICE M. GILL, owned by Gill & Sons, of Newport, was launched at Grand haven, on Wednesday. Captain Robinson will command her. She is 125 feet long, 28 feet beam, and 10 feet hold; engine, 24 by 26; boiler 7 and a half by 14. D.Robertson & Company, her builder, are building almost an exact duplicate of the GILL, for John Long of Chicago, and W.J. Thompson of Riverdale.

Chicago.---The new steambarge ALICE M.GILL, of Northport, arrived Friday morning, from Muskegon, with 375,000 feet of lumber. Captain George Robinson, formerly of the steamer LOUIE A.CUMMINGS, is in command; Byron Beerman chief engineer; Lawrence Kernell second engineer. She was built by the Grand Haven Shipbuilding Company, for Wm.Gill & Son, Northport, Mich.,and is a very handsome and strongly built steambarge. Dimensions 125 feet keel, 28 feet beam, 10 feet hold; engine 22 and 26 by Bloecker & Company, Grand Haven; boiler 7 and a half by 14, of steel, by Johnson Bros, Ferrysburg. Her boiler house is cased with iron. She has a good sized dining room, kitchen, wash-room and four state rooms aft. Wheel house and texas, Captain's and mate's room forward. She has an American Ship Windlass Company's capstan, forward and aft, two anchors, the
largest 1,260 pounds, the other 700. She carries one mast and has wire rigging. Captain John Budge, of the Grand Haven Shipbuilding Company and Captain John Lang, of Chicago, who is having a similar steambarge built by the company, and Mr.Wm.Gill, her senior owner, came along on her first trip and were greatly pleased with her. Her machinery worked splendidly all the way over from Muskegon.
