VESSELS AND LUMBER FROM CHICAGO TO CALIFORNIA. - We understand it is the intention of Judge Helfenstein of Milwaukee, to freight his vessel, the HELFENSTEIN with a load of two hundred or 250,000 feeet of lumber and despatch her direct to California. She will pass through the Welland Canal and down the River St. Lawrence. This will form a new era in lake navigation.
We also learn that the owner of the brig EUREKA, also have obtained leave from the Canadian authorities to pass his vessel through the Welland and Lachine Canals to the Ocean. The EUREKA it is also intended to freight with lumber for California, of which she can carry an immense cargo as she is a large vessel. She has been laid up at this port for some time for want of freight. - Chicago Dem.
