- Full Text
The balance of the wager in the VAL WALTER-DITZEL steam yacht race was posted Thursday with Mr. Henry Altman, the race having been postponed from last Saturday owing to Mr. Ditzel's absence from this city. Mr. R.R. Ditzel, owner of the KITTIE DITZEL, and Mr. Val Walter, owner of the VAL WALTER, each posted $800. The forfeit money, $200 a side, is in the hands of the sporting editor of the Express.
Friends of the owner of each yacht are making preparations to view the race, which will come off Sunday at 2:00, from the foot of Amherst St., rain or shine. The ELDORADO will run from the foot of Main St. and the IDEAL will run from the foot of Amherst St. Both boats will follow the two yachts around Grand Island. Both owners claim it will be a race worth seeing.
