Jessie (Schooner), 1 May 1855
- Full Text
JESSE OF St. CATHARINES. - This magnificent schooner is now loaded at the Freight Warehouse of the Mad River and Lake Erie railroad and is one of the finest vessels that we have ever seen. She was built by Lewis Shickluna, of St. Catharines, who finished her from keel to truck. She is 122 feet keel, 25 foot beam, 10 feet 6 inch depth of hold. She is owned by J.L. Ranney, and is intended for the trade between this port and St. Catharines. She has on board 15,000 bu. of corn - a very large load - and only draws 9 feet of water. This vessel will realize the most sanguine expectations of her enterprising builder, and under the management of her gallant Captain, A. Reed, the expectations of her owner, will be fully answered. - Sandusky Mirror, 29th.
