- Full Text
THE MILWAUKEE BELLE - This large and handsome new schooner, recently built by Capt. Jones, for D.Newhall, of this city, hauled up to Well's & Hill's warehouse on Saturday, to take on her first load for Buffalo. We invite our Buffalo friends to take a look at her fine proportions when she arrives at that port. We think that she cannot easily be beaten.-----Milwaukee Sentinel

Daniel Newhall's new schooner, the MILWAUKEE BELLE, is loading with 17,000 bushels corn for Buffalo. She will probably sail tomorrow, and we advise our Buffalo friends to look well at her. To use a western phrase, she is "good for sore eyes" Our Milwaukee ship builders have hitherto turned out the crack sailing vessels on the lakes, and we are in a fair way to increase their reputation. ------ Milwaukee Wisconsin
The BELLE is undoubtedly, a fine craft, and Milwaukee ship builders are, probably, clever enough at getting up small craft, but when it comes to building a St. LAWRENCE, a QUEEN OF THE WEST, a NORTHERN INDIANA, or a PLYMOUTH ROCK, Buffalo builders have to be called into requisition.

MILWAUKEE BELLE. - This new craft has taken on 16,000 bushels of wheat, and will probably clear today for Buffalo. She has not yet received her finish of paint, so that she does not look as well as she might, but our Buffalo friends will have a better opportunity to examine the vessel without any extra adornments. She draws about 9 feet water, loaded. (Tonnage, 368 6-9.) - Mil. Sentinel, Sept. 13.
