The old stm. NIAGARA which for many years had run between this port and Fort Erie, has been taken out of service, and probably will never be used again. When the boat was taken off the lake trip to Fort Erie she was put on the river trip to the same port. But after a year or two on the river it was found that it was unsafe even for her to make that small run. The NIAGARA is now tied up at the foot of Ferry St. Steam has to be kept up all the time as the boat leaked badly, and she has to be pumped out to keep her from sinking.
