AN OLD VESSEL - The BELLE SHERIDAN is one of the oldest now running on our lake. She was originally an old 'Red Line' craft, owned by Doolittle & T.R.W. She was built by Andrew Miller of Oswego in 1852, consequently she is over 20 years of age. Her Captain, Charles Davis, who owns her, and has sailed her for the past 15 years.

Workmen ae now engaged in overhauling the vessel, Belle Sheridan at A. Miller & Co.'s ship yard. The vessel was built 20 years ago by Andrew Miller, David Crockett, foreman, for Doolittle & Irwin (Sylvester Doolittle and Theodore Irwin). The workmen now find that the timbers are everywhere as sound as when put in. Even in places where they are expected to rot out first not a single defect was found. This is certainly a remarkable case of perservation and speaks for the workmanship of 20 years ago. The vessel is now owned by Capt. Chas. Davis, who has commanded her for several years.
