The schr. ST. LAWRENCE received a thorough rebuild during the past winter at Fitzgerald's drydock. She received nearly an entire new keel, about 1/3 new bottom, 4 streaks of planking outside, new plankshear, rail, stanchions, and new stern frame. She also received new deck frames and decks, new partners and combings around her cabin, together with a new windlass, headlenges, paulibits and considerable new ceiling. She has been thoroughly recaulked and refastened and may be classed as an excellent A2 vessel. The ST. LAWRENCE is being repainted and will be ready to start for Chicago with the first opening of navigation. She will be commanded by Capt. Charman, who is now engaged in fitting her out.
