The steamer ST. LAWRENCE, which was sunk on the 5th instant in the St. Lawrence River, about 8 miles below Montreal, was beached on the 7th instant. A portion of her cargo had been unloaded, and with every prospect that the balance would be saved. As soon as this is done she will be towed to Montreal to have her damage repaired. The ST. LAWRENCE was freighted with pig iron, which was consigned to A.B. Meeker, of Chicago. She was built in 1848 at Oswego by G.S. Weeks, for Messrs. Jacques, Tracy & Co., of Montreal, received large repairs in 1863, measures 340 tons, old style, classes B1, and is valued at $13,000 in gold.
