Sweepstakes (Propeller), 3 Sep 1867

Description
Full Text

A very splendid affair came off a few days since on board the new champion tug SWEEPSTAKES, which was the presentation of a splendid broom, quite recently awarded that steamer, in consequence of her acknowledged speed over all others at present plying on the lakes and rivers. The broom, which is an elegant one, was handed over to Capt. Rames in an appropriate speech, who on receiving it gracefully responded in a few well timed remarks, and ere this, has it planted in its proper position, and will see that it is maintained against any and all comers.
