Evans' Buffalo, Milwaukee & Chicago Line of Screw Steamers for
1864. - This line will comprise 6 first class upper cabin crew
steamers, with superior accommodations for cabin passengers,
having spacious cabins, with large airy and well furnished state
rooms, and good accommodations for steerage passengers. They all
have large freighting capacity, and their tonnafe will range from
600 to 800 tons. The names are as follows, with the assignement
of masters, viz.:
MERCHANT (Iron).................... Capt. Albert Briggs
HUNTER ............................ Capt. Geo. Dickson
FOREST QUEEN ...................... Capt. J. Criqui
BRADBURY .......................... Capt. W.H. McAlly
QUEEN OF THE LAKES ................ Capt. Crary
NILE .............................. Capt. Lyman Hunt
The steamers will run during the ensuing season between
Buffalo, Milwaukee and Chicago touching at Cleveland, Detroit,
Mackinac and Racine, forming a daily line for the transportation
of freight and passengers, and in connection with the New York
Central Railroad, the Rochester Transportation and Western Canal
Lines of Buffalo and at Cleveland with the Atlantic and Great
Western Railway.
