The Detroit Free Press of yesterday said: "The schr. IDA KEITH arrived
here on Wednesday eveing looking for a crew. She had come all the way from
Buffalo with only the captain, 2 mates and cook on board. Detroit sailors
refused to go aboard unless the captain would agree to give them tickets
back to Detroit from Chicago in addition to their wages. The captain
refused to do this, and proceeded to Port Huron without sailors." The
KEITH's nonunion sailors were here "persuaded" to quit her.
