RUTHERFORD B. HAYES is the name of a schooner building by Linn & Craig at Gibralter, about eighteen miles below Detroit. The craft is to enter the water next Tuesday or Wednesday. She has 170 feet of keel, 34 feet of beam, and 15 feet of hold; carries three masts, is worth about $45,000, and first-class in every respect. She will be an honorable addition to the lake marine, which has been considerably depleted by storms and natural wear and tear since 1873, and it is hoped to be a good investment for the enterprising owners (Chicago parties) who had the courage to make the investment in such times as prevailed when her construction commenced.
